The Harvest

  Yesterday and today
The Harvest Church was formally established on the 13th of July 1992 when the current lead elder of the church, Ian Gourlay, and five other men signed the constitution necessary to register the church with various authorities. The membership of the church was approximately eighty people at that time with meetings held at various venues in the Umhlanga Rocks area.

One of the milestones in the Harvest History was the purchase of land in Somerset Park in 1996. The vision for a resource church, which would serve beyond local boundaries and also invest in caring for and educating the local community's children, found visible expression in the building which presently houses the church hall and Pre-School. This building was completed in December 2000. Additional land has recently been acquired and phases two and three of our building project are currently under review.

The Harvest Church is part of a family of churches known as The Church of the Nations International. In addition to this covering, Harvest has strong bonds with a growing group of local and citywide churches which embrace the same values.
